ORGANIC BEEF
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations, Organic Beef must be fed a diet of "agriculture products ...that are organically produced and ... organically handled."
It is not only WHAT you are eating that's important, but also, what has been eaten by what you are eating! WHEW!
Feeding Beef
Feeding beef organically eliminates - pre processing toxins.
Conventional ranchers sometimes use grasses and grains sprayed with synthetic pesticides, fertilizers or other chemicals.
According to the USDA, more often, they are raised on traditional feedlots of genetically modified (GMO) corn and soybeans.
Very often their food contains plastic pellets(for digestive reasons) and formulas containing slaughter by products and urea or manure. 1
This alone “should” STOP anyone from considering eating or feeding conventional Beef. Yet, it doesn’t.
Additives
Bacteria is a problem in the tight quarters of conventional ranches. Antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria grow in live beef and get passed on to consumers.
The use of antibiotics to combat unsanitary conditions in most feedlots and factory farms has caused exponential growth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, making it more difficult to kill food-borne pathogens and treat human illnesses with effective antibiotics.
Residues of artificial hormones to promote growth of livestock and exposure to toxic substances such as rBST and mercury have been linked to increased risks of breast, prostate and colon cancer, diabetes and reproductive problems. 1
The chemicals used in processed meat have been linked to chronic diseases such as heart attacks, strokes and even cancer.
According to a study conducted by the National Cancer Institute, individuals who consumed the most red meat had at least a 27 percent greater risk of dying from heart disease than those who consumed the least.
A study by scientists at the University of Hawaii found that adults who consumed the most processed meats were 67 more likely to develop pancreatic cancer than those who consumed few or none.1
